Guide by Cell Mobile Audio Tour Lends Fresh Insight to University Sculpture Garden
Guide by Cell has provided a cell phone audio tour for the Weatherspoon Art Museum outdoor sculpture garden, located at The University of North Carolina, Greensboro.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leading mobile service provider Guide by Cell has provided the technology for a cell phone-guided audio tour at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, located on the campus of The University of North Carolina, Greensboro.

Visitors to the Weatherspoon's outdoor sculpture garden can listen to a short, pre-recorded message about many abstract works, with some audio prompts recorded by the artists themselves.

The sculpture garden is located in an area with notably less foot traffic; museum staff have long sought a solution to decreased staffing and lack of space to include proper signage in the garden.

"So much of our sculptures are minimal or conceptual, so people recognize them as a work of art, but that's typically where things stop," said Ann Grimaldi, Curator of Education at the Weatherspoon. "Guide by Cell's service is really useful because we don't have the ability to include didactic text panels outdoors. And we cannot place a docent next to every work!"

Dial (336) 201-0688 and follow the prompts to listen to the Weatherspoon's cell phone audio tour.
