VOIP Logic Expands Wholesale Class 5 Hosted PBX Platform With Support For Skinny
Leading provider of Managed Services to Carriers adds BroadSoft Access Mediation Server to support legacy phone systems using SCCP protocol

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA, December 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- VoIP Logic has upgraded its managed services Class 5 Hosted PBX infrastructure to support Cisco's "Skinny" (Skinny Call Control Protocol - SCCP). With existing support for SIP and MGCP, VoIP Logic now provides Class 5 hosted PBX functionality to address the needs of Carriers serving enterprise clients using older generation VoIP phone equipment from Cisco Systems. Communications Service Providers working with VoIP Logic now have the capability to address the needs of the large number of enterprises who are in the market for an enhanced or replacement hosted PBX service provider.

"We are now well positioned to provide an easy migration pathway for service providers using BroadSoft's Synergy and M6 application servers, both of which support MGCP and SCCP endpoints," said Micah Singer, CEO of VoIP Logic. "We are confident that service providers will opt for the most reliable and scalable systems available for their Hosted PBX solutions. Our industry is a very dynamic, ever changing competitive landscape and we want to make sure we are providing a viable offering. Now, with the ability to support a much broader range of legacy customer equipment, we are."

While SIP is the dominant protocol used to connect to the current generation of IP Phones, Integrated Access Devices (IADs), software clients and mobile applications, Skinny / SCCP remains in wide use. Carriers regularly are required to support legacy Adtran IADs, Cisco IADs, Cisco Call Manager, Cisco 7900 series phones and a range of other Skinny / SCCP based devices deployed by enterprises around the world which do not function seamlessly using SIP.

By using infrastructure components from Acme Packet, GENBAND and BroadSoft - notably the newly available Access Mediation Server from BroadSoft which supports SCCP - VoIP Logic operates a geographically redundant Class 5 Hosted PBX platform. These production systems allow service providers in North America, Europe and Latin America to bring enterprise telephony services to market without extensive capital investment or long deployment delays.

"The Access Mediation Server is an important step in the evolution of Broadworks technology," said Scott Hoffpauir, CTO at BroadSoft. "It allows us to offer a single platform that covers over 95% of currently deployed IP Phones, IP PBXs and other Customer devices. We think VoIP Logic is on the right track when it comes to using this technology to make life easier and to improve revenue opportunities for their VoIP managed services carrier customers."
